I too refused to take meds for years feeling a stigma about it. I also grew up watching my mom with serious bi-polar and who knows what else take meds that didn't seem to do anything (in the 70's). I developed such an opposition to using any meds that I stopped taking even aspirin for a few years as a teenager.

Meds can really help; I wish I'd started some long before I did--after 10 years of therapy.
