Thanks SledChick and RACEKA.

The hospital pumped her full of morphine and told me her struggle was the body's natural reaction fighting for oxygen. They said it's like if you held someone under water, the body would naturally fight to free itself to get air.

They were very good. Every time I asked for more morphine they were right there. They also assured me she was totally sedated and unconscious but I had a hard time accepting that because her eyes kept opening.
