I suffered chronic migraine for more than 18 years as well as chronic pain due to injuries for the past 21 years, both started at the same time after I was attacked and suffered from very bad whiplash and dislocated jaw.
With the migraine I found drinking more water per day as much as 2 litres a day and getting off the strong pain meds about 6 years ago, stopped the rebound pain that was going on. About 4 years ago I discovered the ortho pillows that have a memory. Has done wonders for my neck and now wake with just a mild headache in the morning, instead of a full blown migraine.
By drinking more water I of course went more to the loo and the body plushed the toxins, as well as the acid (can't think of the name) that is deposited into the joints which make everything stiff and sore.
You could also try Celery & Juniper duretic tabs found at supermarkets or health store. I found these also helped but I stopped taking them when there might have been a problem with the Celery & my thyroid meds.
Now that I don't take strong pain meds, my current doctor has trouble believing that I do suffer from chronic pain, but after 21 years of suffering I have learnt to live within my boundaries.
Hot showers in the morning, wheat heat bags, mild pain meds (currently trying Panadol Osteo) Tiger Balm and pillows under my knees all help
