Yes, I think when a person reaches out for help, they feel all sorts of negative things about themselves. And that is why a therapist is trained to help people sort out the mixed up complicated way our brains process information.

He is not sitting in judgement --- although it might feel that way. He should be empathic and you should feel warmly understood after a few initial sessions.
