Pex, right now I live in Chippewa Falls (near Eau Claire, northwest part of the state). But I lived in various parts of Milwaukee for 10 years or so before moving here in 2006.

Lutefisk is Norwegian, I think, and disgusting no matter who makes it.

As for the job, etc --- it isn't going to happen. Which I actually am fine with. The guy I knew who was editor of this paper, who called out of the blue and said "yours if you want it," called me back 2 hours later and said "um, uh, yeeeah, my boss says I can't just hire someone over the phone." So I drove up there last week and met his boss. To say that we hated each other is a gigantic understatement. When he said he expected 15 stories a week (!!!!) and "don't spend 5 hours on something that could be done in 3 paragraphs," well, combined with my totally hating the town and realizing that I am totally over reporting -- I'm still looking.

Plan B was to move in with my sis and BIL, save some money and get back to Milw., except BIL had a heart attack Friday and I now have no idea where that stands. He's fine, it was "minor" (if that's possible with a heart attack) and came home today, but we've been through all kinds of other crap with him, including cancer, and he's only 55. I'm rather attached to him, so I'm kind of freaked out.

Meanwhile, I have 4 weeks of unemployment left....
