thank you for sharing what's going on with you in psych rotation. i am a caretaker of a schiz. and i am bp among some other dx's. what i do is detach somewhat while being empathtic at the same time. sounds like a conradiction but it does work. i also make sure i have some mental health time for myself each day...in my case, working in the yard, reading...in your case, just take a breather when you can and rejuvenate by distracting yoruself for a few to give your mind a rest. dealing with people with MI can be stressful for us, but also for any person i'm sure. it takes a lot of mental energy to stay on point and also be kind to ourselves at the same time. i hope things will go well for you. all good wishes to you.
