Not sure how your state works but where I'm at and the state program I'm on requires a TAR--Treatment Authorization Request---for ANY deviation from the generic prescription formulary.
Fortunately, looking for the positives, my chart has years of history showing my inability to tolerate Wellbutrin regular and Wellbutrin SR or any generic buproprion derivitive. My chart showed my difficulty with the medication so when my pdoc put in a TAR for the newest version of Wellbutrin XL (NOT covered by the formulary) it was approved. Over the years I had taken every form of Wellbutrin as it was released to the public hoping that each newer version would make me less ill. The XL appears to be that one!! I completely understand finding that one version that works. I hope you're able to get your state's system to work with you.
Only your doc can answer about the other meds in conjunction with the Wellbutrin SR.
It is Monday now so I'm hoping you've been able to see or speak with the doc's office. Good luck and please let us know!
