As was said before therapists are legally bound to hold information confidential unless they feel you are suicidal or homocidal. In college I had a therapist call my dad and share confidential information and it was completely unprofessional. My dad was the one who told me (he is a lawyer) and suggested that I find a different therapist.
The good news is that there are really good therapists out there who won't break that trust. I would mention what happened to you in the first session and find out where they are at with this type of information to increase the trust.
