i just thought people might find it interesting that SH is being discussed on mainstream primetime uk tv - i was definitely surprised. also, they interviewed the star/writer on a few chat shows and specifically asked her about the SH aspect. she was covering it really in relation to asian women who feel they really have no other outlet at all, but was clear that it wasn't just them, and that it is a huge issue here that needs to be addressed - i applaud her for (a) bringing it to the mainstream in a way that's thought provoking without being abrasive or offensive and (b) making a point of raising the issue as a talking point on extremely popular chat shows (she was on the most famous show here and talked about it at length - a very good interview) - it's about time it was dealt with in a mainstream way, but also sensitively, and she's doing that very well indeed.
if anyone is in the uk, part 2 is next tuesday, 9pm on bbc1 (i'm sure part one will be repeated)
