I just got back from spending the weekend at the Ontario Regional AA convetion. It was awesome. I met up with some friends in the morning yesterday and we went to visit a bunch of the hospitality suites and "the Book Room" which was selling all kinds of recovery books. Then we split up and I went to do my volunteer shift as a greeter. LOL they stuck me on the information desk in the middle of the conference registration, without giving me any information about where the hospitality suites were or anything, fortunately i figured otu where the board announcing them was pretty quickly. I had lots of fun directing people and saw a ton of people I know. Then I went to a couple of meetings and the banquet. The banquet speaker was Clancy I from LA who was amazing. Then today it was more meetings and a sobriety countdown. Again I saw lots of people I know.
Altogether there were more than 3000 people there, all sober, all having fun. It was a really great atmosphere. Now I'm thinking I may go to more of the summer regional conferences over weekends throughout the summer. There are a bunch that aren't very far away & they could be fun.
I'm really glad I went.
