I went to drop off a birthday present to my ex mother in law....well as I was leaving my ex in laws adopted granddaughter walked in. It turns out my ex mother in law was making the girl dinner for her birthday which is in another two weeks. I didnt know the girl was going to be there I called ahead and the ex mother in law never mentioned this.

As I was leaving my ex mom in laws house the adopted granddaughter walked in the house and kept looking at the present I left my ex mom in law. I felt really guilty because I didnt have a present for the girl.

The Girls mother used to date my ex brother in law but they broke up in 1999, but the girl never had a dad or family so all of us kept in touch with the girl even after her mom broke up with my ex bro in law.

Then from 2001-2006 we didnt hear from the girl. But in 2006 the girl contacted us all to tell us her mother had aids and died. The girl also had a baby and was still a teenager, so we all came to her side and helped her emotionally and financially.

But then about a year ago she quit calling or coming around, she moved and then I didnt hear from her. I wish my ex mother in law would have told me she was stopping by the house. I feel so bad about it. I suppose if my ex mother in law has a way to reach her I could get the address and send her a bithday card with money in it. But still I think my ex mother in law should have told me that the girl was coming over.
