well yeast is naturally occuring in your body and what happens is that your natural defenses get lowered and the yeast kind of takes over and grows in too high of quantities. thats why its so easy to get them if youre on antibiotics. the antibiotics also kill off your own naturally occuring bacteria which keeps the yeast in check. so, naturally, like anything else, once your body's defenses get high enough and, if you clean it regularly (NOT DOUCHE!!) i will get better on its own. but like anything else, that also means that, if you don't nip it in the bud, it could get to the point where it wont clear up on its own. just like a UTI or any other infection.
i know that ive felt the onset of them and just made sure to clean very well and in a few days its gone but thats when ive gotten to it before it could get bad. im not sure if yeast infections can get to that point or not, im sure they can. so if you think its past the point of no return id go to a doctor. but if its not unbareable and you can tough it out for a few days to see if just soap and water works then go for it.
and i really can't stress this enough - do not douche! all this does is throw off your body's natural pH and make it easier to get a yeast infection. it's not good for you and its not medically required.
