I doubt your pdoc will think this. And the thing about AS is that you don't HAVE to undergo "treatment". I have adapted on my own to be able to function "normally" (to a point) in social situations, without even knowing it. I think of myself as unique, not sick. If you experience considerable distress due to your AS, then you can get help, but it isn't required.

I also have been dx'ed bipolar, as well as borderline. I took my first PC post (read the thread in this forum titled "Adult Asperger's... (Sorry, didn't know where else to post)" - that first post is mine) to the pdoc at the suggestion of a PC moderator, along with an extensive online quiz that told me I was "very likely an Aspie". A lot of pdocs still don't know much about autism spectrum disorders, but since 1 in 150 kids are dx'ed with it now, that won't last long.

If you find it difficult to say what you want to, write it down and take it with you when you go to your doc.
