Hi I Miss My Kitty,

it puts you off balance doesnt it - you get triggered and then you get anxious about being triggered again so that makes you more likely to be triggered - then you cant sleep for the nightmares and being tired makes it easy for things to trigger you

I have had really dumb things triggering me lately - it drives me even crazier than I alread am LOL try grounding and relaxation techniques - holding ice in your hand, touch a rough surface - do sums in your head - count twelve things and take a breath each time and say the name of the thing and the colour - take slow deep breaths from your diaphram - make a really strong coffee and take a really big sip -and as with the nightmares remind yourself that this is not happening now - you got through it and you survived - so you can do that now - distract yourself by doing things like painint, drawing, reading, writing peotry anything that occupies your mind

hope this helps and that you feel safer soon

ps there are grounding techniques at the top of the page on a sticky - they may help
