welcome to pc.i'm glad you found us!! i can certainly understand your worrying about your loved one. i'm wondering if he's telling his psychiatirst how he is really feeling when he goes to see him. does the psych. know about the recent pill overdose? this is something that if the shrink doesn't know, he needs to be told. it is a warning signal that needs to be 'heard'.
how long has your he been on the meds? it takes about 3-4 weeks for most meds to become theuraputic.feelings of hopelessness and helplessness are clear indicators of depression.would your hubby agree to sign a waiver for his psych. to discuss his patient, your loved one, with you?
also does your he have a therapist? talk therapy(CBT) is a very helpful tool to use with someone experiencing depression. if i had relied on solely my medicine i don't know that i would have ever gotten so much better than i was. also does your he comply with his meds every day? if he doesn't the meds will not be as effective.
sorry for the drill of questions but thought the answers will help to fill in the gaps about why your loved one is not doing well. meanwhile know that we care and i can totally understand your fear at this time. this is a warm and supportive community of people. i hope you will find some answers here that will help you and him.
