I feel the same way whenever I am depressed. It's so hard to feel any hope or remember that you ever felt better when you are in depression's grip.

I find it helpful when I am feeling like that to not fight the fact that I am feeling so bad. I tell myself, "Well today's just going to be another bad day, make yourself as comfortable as possible." Then I do what ever I can that day to make myself feel better. Go for a walk. Read. Talk to a friend who is supportive. Play games online. Eat something I like or go out to eat. Buy myself a little something I want. Read and post here.

Also I find it helpful to break down time so I'm not looking at "the rest of my life" or "forever." I try to just concentrate and get through today, or this afternoon or the next hour. Break time down into a more managable chunk that is not so overwhelming to think about. When I break time down into something smaller and more immediate, I can often find some little postive thing to do or think that makes me feel better.

And yes, you have to keep doing that over and over again. But all those little things add up to eventually feeling better and building your resources and coping skills for the next depression. At least that's how it's been working for me. Some people just have one or two episodes of depression then are never bothered by it again. Not me.

I'd rather have a visit, note or pretty picture
than an "I'll say a prayer" or a "god bless you."
Doesn't make me feel better, no meaning to me for sure.
Can't stop you from praying and blessing me,
and if that makes you feel better feel free.
But keep it to yourself please, don't tell me.
And let's all respect each other's feelings.
With kindness, support and "sweet dreamings."
Thanks for this!
