Hello! I am new to this website. I live in England, and my husband has (finally) been told he has ADHD. He has known he has for three years and has been referred to many different people who didn't know much about it, thought it was something made-up, etc. etc. He has now just started taking medication (concerta and ritalin). We feel like we are at the beginning of a new journey. The medication has made such a difference. We have got two children and I think my husband's diagnosis will also make life easier for them. I have joined this forum for two reasons. Firstly, because I believe that ADHD has been understood for a lot longer in America than here, and as a partner and parent, I would sometimes appreciate some support and advice. Secondly, through our work, we are going on a tour between Jan-March, to look at where people are at with their understanding of ADHD and what different places are offering in terms of support etc., both for children and adults. We are doing this in an attempt to improve practice where we live. One of the places we want to go to is L.A., so I thought I would try to make some contacts and you could advise me about who we should speak to while we are there.
Any thoughts?
