I can understand your felings.
I ask you to remember this though....You did a very good thing offering your support to this person and being there for them in their time of need. Please remember however, that we all need to be accountable for our own actions. You did nothing wrong, you did not fail this person. When we take actions against ourselves, even when we think it is the only way, because we just want the pain to stop, or even if we really feel like we want to die, we still must be responsible.
You have your own pain...let this person be responsible for theirs.
I am sorry that this happened, and I am glad to hear that this person is okay, but you are NOT responsible for this. That belongs to the person who OD'd.
P.S. I don't mean to sound harsh...that's just the way it is.
