The main criteria a psychiatric evaluator will have is whether you are in danger to yourself ie suicidal or danger for someone else abuse assault etc. The evaluator will make the final decision in consultation with psychiatrists MD's etc. I see you are from Maryland. If you decide to go get evaluated, I would strongly recommend Suburban Hospital if you are in DC suburbs. Of the three I have been in this one is the best. Bring a book along you will have long periods of time to fill. My own stays have been around three to five hours if you are lucky. If you have any idea you maybe are about to hurt yourself or someone else go to a hospital emergency room and get it checked out.
