Calista, I am on Vyvanse, an amphetamine if a different sort of formulation. It is gradually released as a precursor to the amphetamine and then must be metabolized to the active amphetamine. This results in what my prescriber refers to as "smooth" and she says this drug has lower addiction potential because of that (there is no quick jolt or buzz). I have been on this drug since about June and do not feel addicted to it. I can stop taking it for a few days and have no withdrawal symptoms at all. (The only symptoms I have are more sleepy and less able to focus, but I don't consider these to be signs of addiction.)
Perhaps you would like to try a less addictive type of amphetamine such as Vyvanse?
