I need to take Prednisone for recovery from pneumonia which was bad enough for a seven day hospitalization and the highest dosage. The hospitalization in itself resulted in my having flashbacks of abuse and nightmare in the hospital. Now, I'm having flashbacks of the hospital which some of the nurses retraumatized me. (I did write a letter to the hospital).

The side effects that are driving me nuts are water retention, salt retention, increased appetite, edema, weight gain, tremors, and insomnia. Those are the most troublesome. (I also have anorexia, so I am really freaking out...20 pounds since the hospital).

I have thoroughly discussed this with my psychiatrist, pharmacist, physician and pulmonologist. Basically, bottom line is that I need this particular medication to get better and no relapse. I am slowly tritating, but it wont be until late May that I finish and I already feel like a beached whale.
