I have to take high doses of predisolone when my asthma gets out of hand usually when I get a chest infection, which tends to happen 3-4 times a year. I know the side effects are a pain but predisolone is the best thing for chest infections, and also when the body can't produce it's own cortisone which would normally keep us healthy. It's also used for cancer patients and can give a feeling of wellbeing. I do understand what you are saying about the weight gain but you will be tapering off your meds soon as you head toward the end of May.
