The people and community and range of point of view, all focused toward a single subject. One doesn't have to worry too much about being judged as we're all here together with similar worries and feeling like we may have similar backgrounds and experiences. It makes it a little easier to open up as we assume things about each other that would take awhile to learn face-to-face.
