Do shrooms make anxiety worse? Or, does it calm? Or does it not really do anything. Just wondering, thanks.

Hi Yes.

Well, not that I "know" the one and only answer to your question, but I would be happy to have a proper conversation with you on this subject. I have about thirty years experience with hallucinogenics, and also deal with anxiety as a component of my psychiatric cocktail. We could try it here in the forums if you like, but it might be an incendiary topic for some. If you'd like to PM me on the subject, that would be fine with me.

Also, the Erowid link, if you haven't looked for yourself yet, is very informative on a great many levels of interest in this area.

They can lift you up so high that you feel WONDERFUL
And they can take you to the pit of your deepest FEARS ANXIETIES and TERRORS.

Sometimes in the course of the same trip
Sometimes you get good ones and bad ones
It is worse if you fight it.

I think the down side of it is pretty inevitable.
You can do stuff to minimise it (good self-talk, taking them in a safe environment etc) but the bad trip will get you in the end.

I just tell myself:
IT IS ONLY THE DRUG - IT WILL WEAR OFF IN XXX AMOUNT OF HOURS
But that doesn't combat the fear entirely.
So I guess my answer is:
Both better and worse,
Both better and worse.

Doesn't really matter considering it didn't work at all anyway.
