Last night I went to shoot pool! I have always loved to shoot pool, but of course that went along with 4 or 5 pitchers.....My pool buddy has been incredibly supportive of my sobriety, so I asked him Friday if he'd want to play pool Sunday because they have a flat table time price so it's much cheaper, and we didn't have to get up for work today. I told him I'd need to talk to my sponser and think about it a lot, so I might back out. He was totally cool and said he wouldn't drink, and we could leave anytime if I had too. I talked to my sponser and she said it sounded ok, but to pray about it, drive my own car, and have phone numbers. I had tried to go to karaoke Saturday night and stayed for all of 10 minutes because my best friend said she'd drink coffee with me, but had a smirnoff when I got there. She basically ignored me because I sat at a table behind here where there was no booze. So I left and made phone calls. My sponser said I handled that situation very well, so pool should be ok too. Well it was a success! I walked into the pool hall and felt at ease because I've always loved it there. We had iced tea and sprite. We talked for awhile about the program and then started playing pool. I got a little squirly, feeling like something was missing (gee wonder what that was haha) popped a piece of chocolate and then realized I was hungry. Ordered some food and then I was fine. Had such a blast! Played pool for 6 hours, kicked his butt at 9 ball and then I was winning at 8 ball when he made a comeback and won. Got very tired, but tired because I was tired and not drunk! It was great! Now I know I can at least play pool as long as I'm with him or someone not drinking. It's nice too because it's spread out, so you're not stuck next to someone drinking. I'm so happy!!!!!!!!!!

Yippy!!!!! Thats great news. That is was you need is someone to support you through this and understands if you have to leave. You should be proud of yourself for being able to do that. Also it was a good idea to talk to your sponsor before doing this. Looking for a way out if the temptation comes is a great way of dealing with it. You are in my thoughts and prayers for this and for more times like this to happen. Great job.
