I'm drinking - not excessively (I have been honest with my GP and he is not worried) but more than I want to and for the wrong reasons. I'm drinking to stop myself from feeling. You see, it works. I can (and have) stopped, but I don't want to right now. I just want not to feel so much. Does that make me mad, bad or sad I wonder.

Doesn't make you a bad person at all. As Petunia said, it makes you human. Try searching the web for other coping mechanisms... See if you can find something that can take the place of the alcohol in a positive way. Best of wishes to you.

I have - and use - other mechanisms. Just sometimes the alcohol is the preferred one. Then I feel disgusted with myself. C |

Just remember that feeling of disgust everytime before you open that can or bottle of alcohol. Remember how it makes you feel afterwards. That may help some control the drinking.
