I know myself I have been guilty of this also. But when it comes right down to it, all we have is to worry about is just today not using and drinking. I have so X amount of time in but I still am just one drink, one use away from being right back where I was before. That will not go away. It is something I have for life. I accept that.So in some instances time does help out, in knowing what may work and what to do, but all of us are that close to being back where we were. That may sound rough, but it is a fact. If we forget about today and think just of the time we have into sobriety, then we had better be on guard today because something may trigger us before the day is over. That monkey will be there on our shoulder just waiting for us to let our guard down for just a minute and then he can creap into our minds and do his thinking. That may sound scarey and it is, but it is also reality for us too. I have seen too many people have alot of time in and they have let their guard down and went right back to where they were. As for me, I dont want that to happen as I know death will be waiting around the corner very soon. Just today, that is what we need to work on and worry about. The past is in the past, we do not know what the future holds for us, all we have is today.

I knew a man with 15 years sober and yet was no better than one with one day. Scared me. Is it not more how we live our lives than how much time sober?

I like to say it's the quality of my sobriety, not the quantity. =)
