I went in to the hospital today for my women in recovery group. Only 2 of us showed up. Attendence has been dwindling for awhile. So the Dr. running the group says that she's cancelling it indefinitely until she can get 6 to 8 women who can commit to attending weekly sometime in the new year. I'm really going to miss this group as I've been attending it almost every week since Feb. 07.

there are statistics floating around , SI. the latest i heard, which is encouraging compared to the past, that 1 in 10 actually successfully stay sober. i hope that is not the case with members of your group that were no-shows. but you are a winner today and that gives me joy!
sorry the group has folded but you are doing a lot of things-service work as well as sober activities-that can help assure you continued success.

splitimage, I'm sorry you are losing such an important source of help. Especially since you have a long history with this group. I am a firm believer that group therapy is a rich source for personal growth. I hope you can find another outlet for your issues.

That's sad. I've done some groups and they won't run a meeting if there is under 3 people who show up. Sad that people decide they want to get help, but won't make a commitment to actually show up on a regular basis. (Yes, there are reasons you might not be able to show up... but if it's a regular thing for you, then that's an issue!)

I hope they manage to pull together another group in the new year with people.

Thanks everyone.

I am sad about the group and am wondering what I'm going to do with myself, tomorrow afternoon when there's no group. But at the same time, I had already said that I was going to have to drop out when I found a job. I negotiated one morning a week off for aftercare, I figured trying to negotiate 2 half days off was pushing it.

I guess I'm going to look for an AA meeting tomorrow afternoon that I can go to, since I'm so used to doing something recovery oriented on Mon. afternoon.
