today marks the tenth month i have stopped doing drugs and i ask myself this question 'why?'. why did i ever stop in the first place i honestly can't remember why i ever quit what reason or reasons i did or where i even got the motivation to stop i can't think of any reasons not to go back i don't have to stay clean for a job nobody around me gives a crap and most just encourage it it all just seems pointless to stay clean for no reason at all .

Here are three reasons: jail, death, insanity.
For someone who has been clean long enough, the reasons for stopping blur. But tell you what, if you start again, you will probably be reminded rather quickly. Just keep taking it a day at a time. Sending you a safe cyber hug. |

there are many underlying reasons why we used drugs or alcohol. wanting to escape from reality, not being able to cope well, running from self, etc. it will help you to remember what caused you to use drugs in the first place. your posting here seems to me a way to call out for answers and help. you know them so reflect back on when u started using and what reasons and "benefits" u found. my guess is that u stopped cause it created more problems in your life. hope u find the reasons for both-using and stopping using. that way u can find out "why?" u feel u want to continue using. nuckfutz gave u good advice...jails, institutions and death. it is real, not just a saying, for those of us that once used or abused alcohol. it's your choice of course but the easier softer way is sobriety, imho.

Hi Antonio ~ Who cares why you quit? But do you want to know what will happen if you start again?
I have seen too many members of my AA group (addicts AND alcoholics) BURIED -- because they went back out for "further investigation." Accidents or liver disease I have seen too many members go to PRISON for possession/selling of controlled substances. I have seen too many members go to PRISON for driving under the influence - their third or 4th citation. Michigan doesn't mess around I have seen too many families broken up by the disease of Addiction/Alcoholism And YOU want to know WHY you shouldn't start again??? I think you need to go to some AA meetings and hear some stories. Good luck. Lee |

I read your post yesterday and had to think about it. Your question is WHY? And looking at the replies you've been given, I can only think of: why not?? I can't see your mood, but when "nobody gives a crap" and it is al "pointless", I can imagine it's not good at all. Maybe even depressed. There are more people here who had to deal with underlying issues as soon as they were clean or sober. Could that be the case with you? In that case you might wanna try a therapist, to work on that. Maybe you miss support, which could be found in AA or NA. And I wanna congratulate you with 10 months clean! Maybe you should hear that more often. |

Stay clean for your health! Also, drugs can interact with your mental state and it could cause major problems. I am not sure what drugs you were doing, but be careful. Please don't start again, try to remember why you quite in the first place and do some soul searching on reason why you should not start again!

Only you can answer why you quit and why you should not start again. There are a lot of things to try and do in this life; you've been there, done that? I would imagine some other type of life I think I might enjoy (having friends, loved ones, a home, etc.) and go after one or more of those and see what they feel like in comparison.
