So I am at work and find a few of my employees huffing power duster stuff for computers. 15 and 16.....I get along pretty good with these guys and They know I was pissed. And I didn't even down play it. I think it is the stupidest thing in the world to do and it pisses me off more that I care about these guys. I told them if they did it again I would fire them and let them know how I felt about the actual act itself. I never huffed when I was younger. Never, never, never. I think it is stupid. What is the point for 30 seconds and all you do basically is jsut kill LOTS of brain cells....I am still pissy about it.........grrrrrrrrrr.............thx for listening

Yeah, that's a really destructive thing to do to yourself. Do you think these kids know how the "high" actually comes about?

vulger, I understand you're upset with these guys but have you thought about a different approach? Maybe sit them down and tell them how huffing really affects you? Maybe they are ignorant to it and think it's "just for fun". By explaining to them the real deal on huffing, they may quit.

I almost didn't open this thread, but it reminds me that I DID THAT when I was in 7th grade. It was called DustOff and it was sold as a camera cleaner at the time. Wow - when I see a 7th grader now, I realize how freakishly young and stupid I was... that was an insane way to experiment. I'm lucky I'm a functioning person now. Huffing

Everyone experiments when they are young. Sure it is stupid. And they are lucky to have someone like you pick up on what they are doing.

I guess I look back at all the mad combinations of %#@&#! we used to take though and anyone who suggested it might be a good idea to stop woulda got laughed at and ignored. Sometimes the only way to learn is through experimentation and learning from ya own mistakes.

Over here they are trying to make safer alternatives to illegal drugs which is a big step forward IMO. There is a lot of research and development into 'party pills' which are non-addictive and basically have similar effects to ecstasy and meth. However stuff like nitrous is now banned, so kids are getting into butane etc instead (much more dangerous).

People are always gonna want to get high ... I guess I really like the harm reduction approach to managing it.
