I'm contemplating going to a refuge for a year to get stable. I was wondering if anyone had experience with going to a Christian rehabilitation center to restructure their life. The commitment is one year. I think it will give me time to get stable on my meds (I am bipolar) and stop using drugs to self medicate. It will give me the structure I need to be successful I hope. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this type of treatment and what the outcome was. Thanks, berly

Hi = That sounds like quite a program! If it's for addicts, it's ideal. There was nothing at all like that when I got sober, and there still isn't. At least not anywhere around here.
![]() I joined AA when I got sober, and I spent every waking moment I could with members of the group (when I wasn't at work). The AA members kept me so busy doing service work, going to other meetings, etc., that I didn't have time to even THINK of drinking or drugging. LOL They had me chairing meetings in juvenile homes, women's prisons, colleges, and anyplace else they could think of! They not only helped keep me sober, but they helped me with my social anxiety! LOL ![]() I hope whatever you decide to do works out for you. Sobriety is the absolute best -- do WHATEVER you have to do to get clean & sober! Please don't die -- because drug addiction & alcoholism WILL kill you. God bless and please take care. Hugs, Lee ![]() |
