suki it does have alcohol in it. so imho it's not considered sobriety if one drinks it. good question! here's a site http://alcohol-statistics-in-europe.own69.com/non_alcoholic_beer_contains_alcohol/...and
Quote:
Other than the fact that all "NA" beer does contain a small amount of alcohol, there is now a new study out that seems to support the theory that it can cause a relapse for recovering alcoholics.

hope this helps.

Not certain if the AA community has a rule about N/A beer... I do know that one of my spouse's friends does drink it at times. At least the friend has stayed away from high alcohol drinks for the last 10 years. But we both sort of view it as "cheating".

In my experience in AA there is no "official" stance on it. The unofficial attitude is that people suggest reading the label on the Non-Alcoholic Beer and find out how much alcohol is actually in it. Then decide for yourself if it is worth the risk.

In my experience watching others I have seen too many people end up relapsing and drunk out of their minds from starting out with N/A Beer that I won't touch the stuff.

I hope this helps.

Rapid.

I heard people in AA mention that if the label says 'non alcoholic' then its not for them because THEY are alcoholic.

This is like smoking the Happy High Herbs that mimic the effects of pot. It is cheating your program.

You know the answer to this deep within yourself.

Sponsor told me to stay away from them...as (((littlebitlost)))and (((rapidflyer)))
have stated. I have known people to go on from those to convincing themselves "a little bit o Nyquil will help me feel better"--ya know? the dis Ease kinda makes up other excuses..

They wound up going to hard liquor in no time at all--full relapse...be careful!!

When I sponsored others, I told them the same thing...

Insidious, powerful...but the program is more powerful...Be honest with yourself, a good program requires absolute honesty with you.

"The answer is deep within yourself" ((littlebitlost))
I wish you well....(((Suki22))) good question!

I'm actually doing Moderation Management currently (which accepts N/A beers as an alternative) but I was just curious what the stance was for AA. Thanks for all of your responses!
