Twenty years sobriety and to go back out! What a shame. Why? Because they stopped going to meetings! Started to think they were better than the newcomer just walking in the door. We are all the same.

How true. I've seen it happen too. It's heartbreaking. I guess they begin to think that they're "cured" and want to further "investigate." Who knows.

But they always come back -- and very very sick.

I know this post is a few weeks old but I never realized how true your statement is until recently. I'm 100 days sober today so I'm still a newbie in the program.

So this past weekend I went to my sponsors wedding and one of her old friends was attending who use to be in AA. Well too make a long story short she was beyond drunk at the wedding. No open bar, but you could buy at the bar if you wanted. she kepy trying to convince us (I think more herself), that she really didnt have a problem because she never drank everyday. That she could stop at three, she def could not from what we saw. However all we can do is hope for the best for her.

For me it bought alot to light because I know I can NEVER pick up one single drink again. I am nor was I ever in control of the amount I drank. I didn't drink everyday either (for the last 3years because of my spouse). It still doesn't mean you do not have a problem. Even than I'd say one, or just two more, oh I'll stop at 10, by 16 it was Ahh who gives a sh#t!. Even nights were I was controled, meaning my husband was with me or home, I'd have two and just obsess to myself "man I wish I had more, what the hell was the point in two?"

Well anyway I just went on a rant, sorry gma lol. I just know no matter how long you're sober we all share one common problem and that is we are alcoholics. Thank you for your post I'm def doing my best to stay humble one day at a time
