I had to give up my apartment and downsize for financial reasons. I'm really lucky, I got into a subsidized supportive sober living place for women who are recovering from substance abuse and mental health issues. But I've been packing up my apartment, and that's hard.
I've also had to get rid of a lot of stuff, including some really nice furniture that was my Grandmother's. Oh well, that's what addiction does. But everytime I go back to my apartment to pack I just feel sad. I lived there for more than 16 years, and I was drinking almost all of the time I lived there, except for my sober periods. Looking bad, it's just sad - all the time I wasted, isolating and drinking, and blacking out, and falling and hurting myself, and all the time I wasted. I'll be really glad when the 30'th comes which is the day the movers are coming, and I'll be out of there for good. It's just a chapter in my life that I want to close the door on, so I can really have a fresh start. splitimage |
