Brontoset, have you ever gone to a NA meeting? Narcotic Anonymous is a 12 step group check the Internet for meeting in your area. I only suggest this because you could have a sponsor from NA get through times like what you have described. Someone who has been there.

If it's for wheat or sugar, I can understand why. The exorphins in wheat
act on the opiate centers of the brain and cause cravings. Wheat is
addictive and causes intense desire for more at 2 to 3 hour intervals.

Sugar is addictive, but no more so than grains that have gluten in them.

If your addiction was alcohol, you could easily be sensitive to sugar or
to wheat or other grains (barley, rye, and possibly oats) that contain
gluten exorphins.

Check your diet, please; it's likely one or the other that is bothering you.

If it's an alcohol craving, read Dr. Kathleen DesMaissons book called
Radiant Recovery. She is the first woman to receive a Ph.D in nutrition
for treatment of alcoholism. ( Her work began with acknowledging a sugar sensitivity that could be related to some facets of alcoholism), and she has had astonishing success in helping alcoholics recover. She has a website in California and probably would communicate with you if it's alcohol cravings that are bothering you.

That's really all I know to suggest about anything related to alcohol.

Good wishes.
