Hello!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. It's been hot in San Francisco today.

Yesterday I got some good news. I'm going to be getting my own place real soon. Probably in a couple of weeks. I'll be getting a room at the Granada Hotel in San Francisco.

For those of you who don't know me yet, I'm currently living in a drug rehab facility run by Baker Places. I have a case manager from another agency who has been trying to find me a place to live since I got here 2 months ago, and yesterday she called and told me she's going to put a $100 deposit for a room at the Granada. I wrote a blog post about her here: My Housing Case Manager is Not Doing Her Job

When a room becomes available, one of the managers at the Granada will call her and she'll call me to go look at the room. If I accept it, which I will, I'll be able to move in when I graduate this rehab. My graduation date is set for Oct. 5th.

She's going to be paying my rent. And it's permanent housing. I'm excited and I'm scared.

I'm scared because I think I'm going to relapse! Every time I live alone I tend to relapse. When I'm in a rehab or a sober living halfway house I can stay sober.

Any ideas on how I can make sure not to relapse? I don't want to start smoking crack again. It'll only lead me back to jail or another rehab. I've been to 15 rehabs already and I don't want to live in another one.

The only way I know is to go to meetings every day. I went to three a day for over a year because I didn't have anything else to do. Build a support system like you have in rehab.

Thanks for the advice. You're absolutely right! I remember when I got out of rehab a few years ago I used to go to 2 meetings a day because I felt I needed it.

I already know which AA meetings I'm going to attend. I just need to get a sponsor :-(
