I suppose one can become addicted to anything. Anyone else have a hard time limiting your time on this forum?

i am on here a lot. i like to play games. i consider my friends in games part of my family. PC helps keep me grounded. helps me not feel so alone. i even have it on my phone so i am on it several times a day. i dont consider it a bad thing. but it doesnt interfere with my life. i sometimes dont get on and it is not like i go thru withdrawals or anything. it is just a nice thing to have in my life.

Hi,
I hope you don't mind that I admit I chucked when I read this. I don't think it's anymore unhealthy to be on a lot, than it is to be on any other social media site. It's a way to get a need for social connection met, which is in no way dysfunctional, unless of course there is some other unidentified need motivating you. But only you can decide that. Anyway, I'm not sure why I'm here yet, but I'm open to exploring what it has to offer, and what I can offer 'it'. Take care and see you around, Ron |

Haha I admit I think I spend a bit too much time on this site :P but it's really fun and I learn a lot so I don't consider it a bad thing. Though I do have a bit of an internet addiction so, as with everything else, it's just that you have to monitor it to make sure it doesn't interfere with important matters in your life. I'm actually working on cutting back the amount of time I spend here but it really just depends on how many posts I want to respond to and how much stuff I'm avoiding :P

Ha! When I first started this site I was kicking myself for overusing it. I was on the couch every day with my laptop, watching TV and posting left and right. I was pretty irritated that I couldn't pull myself away. I was so exhilarated that I finally found a decent site where I didn't have to be afraid to post things about my mental illness because I was in like company. I think I just got to the point to where I don't care, anymore. I enjoy it. I had the same problem when I did social media (facebook). I no longer have any accounts with any social media sites because I just got too addicted to the bs. This is not the same. It feels more genuine and less self-promoting (bragging). I still feel like I need to pull away sometimes but I'm not beating myself up as much about it, anymore. I think it's because I'm all caught-up on all of my work, chores, etc.
