I go to chemical dependency group 15 hours a week with a **** load of addicts like myself.

I've been out of detox for almost 3 weeks and in IOP and I've been sober the whole time and it ****ing sucks.

I know everyone has different **** and we all deal with everything in our own way and yada yada yada; I hear it every day of the week. But some people just piss me off.

Monday we had a new girl join the group.

From the first time she opened her mouth I was like this chick is not right… there's something, just, off.

We went around through check-in and finally got to her- she's ********ting. I swear to god this girl is lying. And she's horrible at it.

Everything she says. None of it adds up, she's constantly contradicting herself, saying she does this but has never done it in the same sentence.

The only thing she said that I believed was that she smokes a lot of weed and drinks beer. She's 18 though, so? The fact that she kept randomly throwing in **** that we had said… and freezing when asked for a specific SOC….

"Oh, and I like amphetamines and stuff like that.."
T- "amphetamines like…. meth? or…?"
"Yeah like uh that and like you know the other ones. oh and a lot of energy drinks"

I don't know.
this is just really bothering me today. She was in group again today and totally didn't even stick by anything but her weed and beer claims, which is fine, but then proceeded to go on later in the group making claims about understanding shooting and then later saying you would never even think about shooting

pick a story and stick to it
jesus

idk I just feel like it's almost inadvertent mocking in a way get the **** out if you got nothin wrong. go to a ****ing mental health group if you want group T that bad… don't make **** up.

Hey,

Yeah. It's hard to relate to some people. Are beer and weed accepted as part of recovery these days? She might as well be honest to get the right help.

Living lies is a huge part of addiction for me. I think the movie Flight did a good job of relating this.

Good luck in your recovery. For me, all the hell I had to endure in early recovery was worth it and has paid off 10 fold.
