You can always come back. It won't be like completely starting over. Just take it in stride and fight the "F it... might as well" line of thinking.

I've relapsed multiple times over the years that I've been struggling with my drinking problem.
I'm not condoning it, but it's also not the end of the world. Treat it as a learning experience - what triggered the relapse, and what could you do differently the next time you feel the same way or in the same situation. I also don't believe you've thrown away your previous sober time. You had it, so you obviously learned some coping skills, now's the time to strengthen them. Sure you've had a break in continuous sober time, if your counting, but you're not starting from the same place that you were in when you very first made the decision to stop. Keep us posted on how you're doing. splitimage |

thank you guys
I'm not turning to escape in a bottle again. it only made things ten times worse. I'm going to just put it behind me like you guys said the sober time I had still means alot! __________________ I used to rule the world Seas would rise when I gave the word Now in the morning, I sleep alone Sweep the streets I used to own I used to roll the dice Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes Listen as the crowd would sing Now the old king is dead! Step One is where I finally gave up the fight against alcohol and whatever else and admitted I was totally powerless to stop my pain or anything else from ever again getting the best of me. I was completely unable to manage my own life out of my mess and into right relations with the world around me, and there were not enough cheerleaders or "support" anywhere in the world to make any difference there. You will almost never hear about that level of "dropping the shovel" in today's AA, but there at a complete Step One is where permanent recovery from chronic alcoholism can truly begin.
