Tuesday my counselor told me that I'm not afraid of change...I've made several changes to my life recently...but that I'm afraid to quit drinking. What exactly does this mean? Yes, I'll elaborate next week, but it is driving me crazy. He left the session on that note!

After 6 months of sobriety it is different and you have to find other things to do but it uncomplicated my life anyways. No clue if I'll never drink again but for now I'm good.

Maybe it would be helpful to make a two column list: In one column, write what you would GAIN by quitting drinking, and in the other column write what you would LOSE by quitting drinking. Just an idea.

I've just started SMART recovery and we do something similar called a Cost Benefit Analysis. We did one last night in the online group and it's pretty eye opening to the short term and long term costs and benefits of any behavior. If you want to check it out I will gladly get the form they have for you.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about it and I'd be glad to help.
