Thought it might be helpful for everyone to list reasons why quitting drugs and alcohol is a positive thing in their lives.

1. I have more money since I quit.
2. My relationships are better
3. I'm not risking going to jail for DWI or possession or whatever else
4. The house stays clean
5. The dog is happier
6. I don't have to drink pepto bismol every morning
7. I went back to work
8. I'm painting more pictures
9. The shades aren't shut anymore; there is sunshine streaming through the room
10. I'm not afraid

Ever since I stopped drinking a year or so ago, I now finish what I started/start.

I have a closer relationship with my sisters.

I MAKE MY OWN BED! Clean and decorate to my liking because I now save $150 of cheap wine a week.

It gave me strength to quit smoking cigarettes.

Plan 1: stop drinking (done)
Plan 2: stop smoking (done)
Plan 3: stop drugs (in progress and so far, the hardest for me) but I'm still sticking to the imperfections of my plan.

I have tons of energy

I'm not impulsive and end up in the back seat of the police vehicle...

I'm more positive and open to new ways to deal with...well..me.

I smell great and have confidence with women again, not in a drunken sleazy way, just myself.

I started caring about myself again, lost 65 pounds and got in the bast shape I have been in for quite some time.

It's easy to keep your story straight when it's the truth.

If I forget to take my meds until late in the day, I don't have to worry about interactions with alcohol.

I am less prone to forgetting things and sharper in general.

If I drink at night, I would be hung over when I wake up early to swim in the morning, something I love to do.

What a positive and wonderful thread! Much appreciated Zijax for starting this! Everyone of the reasons listed are absolutely useful!
I’m happy to be going to sleep sober and looking forward to an early morning walk with family and dog. (Headache free of course)
