so I have aquired (I didn't buy it, I was given it), a vape (you know one of those E ciggirette things)

it has become my go to grounding item- if I am feeling in anyway threatened, or feeling a bit distant, I'll take it out of my box and hold it in my hand (and sometimes smell the end of it, the end with the hole in it)

anyway it really relaxes me, and 9 times out of 10, it will do it's job and bring me back to the present

my question is..

can you get addicted to smoking just by smelling the end of a vape?

it's not like it smells of smoke- in fact the one I have is slowly losing the smell it does have (I can't describe it, just flavor liquid)

but I am just curius, and I am wondering as it does relax me

I should add that I can't get rid of it.

long story, but it's sort of an OCD thing (I don't actually have OCD, but it's the closest I could think of)

I have a vape, and I’m pretty sure that unless you’re actually inhaling it you won’t get addicted. Just holding and sniffing it should be fine, addiction wise. I think it’s not so much the vape and liquid itself are calming you, but you are using your senses in the grounding process - touch and smell.

If you are worried though you can get liquids that don’t have nicotine in them - still have the flavour/scent but none of the addicitive stuff
