It has nothing to do with moral values. For me, it was about what the molecules let me do to my own life. Take care of yourself.
Thanks for this!

Way to go Intrvtd1. Keep up the great work. I too find it gets better and easier with time.

Having a rough time. I went to see my pdoc last week & he asked if I'd been drinking. I have no idea why, & it really bothers me.
Thanks for this!

buddah1too, If it were me I wouldn't take it too personally.

My psychiatrist periodically asks me if I'm still sober. After years of my relapsing he doesn't take anything for granted. Sometimes he asks me within the context of me being depressed, but sometimes it's just out of the blue. I don't have a problem with it, because it legitimately affects my care.

It's been 5 days since I last used nicotine gum. Almost 2 years since my last cigarette.

Yesterday I bought a pint of rum and chased it with Coke walking home then smoked weed. I woke up this morning and took my stimulant, two double shots of rum, then more stimulant and another double shot. I felt good for an hour and then crashed and then it felt like my brain chemicals were drained so I took xanax, extra olanzepine and phenibut.

Tomorrow I'm going to turn this around completely and stop using because it doesn't help me.

I'll be going hiking every second day or so so I'll get in shape and be distracted.

Sounds like one of my binges from the past. I couldn't drink and drug "just a little." I jumped in with both feet.

Today was a good day. No drug use.

I'm trying to organize my meds and such. I often throw away drugs as a form of substance minimalism.

I feel much better today mood and mental health wise. Went for a walk, chilled - Decided what I want to do etc... Getting back on track.

I don't think I'd just let myself ever spiral into constant drug use unless I didn't have a family/parents were dead and I had nothing to live for where a comfortable life was taken away or something like that.

Yeah I’m slowly feeling better too…141 days now…almost half a year and still determined to keep this going in spite of the paws that mildly diminishing as they are, still hit…

The cravings are just now coming around but at a very low level…Triggered by the nice sunny summer-like weather we’ve had the past few weeks, Im still not gonna drink 🙁 I just don’t wanna go back to that nightmare of withdrawals I went through the past four and a half months 🙁

Hang in there everyone 👍🏾🙏🏾

Way to go, you're doing the work. Yeah PAWS sucks big time, but as you're experiencing the cravings do get less intense and less frequent the longer you're sober, or at least that's what I found.

Now I only get a craving if I'm going out to a bar for wings, because in my mind beer and wings go together, but I'm not going to blow my sobriety for that.

Haha…Yeah beer and wings really do go together 🤣 I used to frequent Hooters on occasion 🙂 Now I just buy fried wings from our local grocery store that cooks em fresh for sale 😊 Yum! 😋

I've kind of taken a new turn. After many years of going to regular AA meetings, I recently discovered Secular AA meetings on Zoom. No offense, but the concept of God has always been hard for me to swallow. Secular AA keeps the spirit of 12 Step work without all the God business. It's been refreshing.

buddah1too,
Glad you found the secular meetings. We have a couple of secular AA meetings up here. I've never been to one, as they're in bad locations for me, but I support them.

I go to Double Recovery meetings which are based on AA - I just ignore the God stuff.

Greentiresforme, That's totally amazing. Congratulations.

Guiness, awesome news about your Mom. I can't imagine being sober that long.

I stopped using any drugs (my days were ruled by them previously) when I found out I was pregnant at the start of this year.

Sometimes like just now I feel lost or bored and just wish I had something to smoke. I hope I don't go back to it once I have had my baby, I find it strange and annoying that I still think about it so easily after 5 months.
