I abuse my seroquel on a daily basis.

I take up to 200mg more than I'm supposed to.

I don't know why I do this! I told my pdoc about it and he seemed unconcerned and even prescribed me more when I called because I was having trouble sleeping. I'm going to run out of that prn seroquel soon. Who abuses seroquel? If I could I would be seroquel-ed all the time.

WHAT IS MY PROBLEM!!!!

If I keep this up I'm going to run out of my scheduled seroquel early and be ****ed. It sucks even more because I got a 90 day supply of it, so I have an almost FULL bottle of seroquel up in the cupboard. I'm obsessed with seroquel!

Sorry. Just felt like venting. My seroquel addiction is starting to scare me!

I have to look up Seroquel. But just wanted to say, I noticed in the past I had an addictive personality. I would start abusing over the counter diet pills & sleep aids. Even cough syrup that made u sleepy. I would have to have a stock of all these drugstore aids I was abusing & relied on. When I lost my job(s) because of my alcoholism, I stopped buying all this drugstore stuff. And I realized I never needed any of it in the first place. Just my addictive, obsessive personality telling me that I needed it & a stock, at all times. Something in my brain. I quit everything eventually, tho..
But I do realize u need what you're taking. Start training yourself to take your accurate dosage...then put it away, out of sight. Only allow yourself your prescribed dosage. It will become a habit, then..

I just want to say @raspberrytorte - anyone can abuse anything, even Seroquel. I used to be on Seroquel too, and sometimes I would take more of the dosage to fall asleep because I felt like it wasn't working fast enough. For whatever reason, you feel you are abusing them, I agree with @shovelhead because it's the first stages of the addiction. Re-training yourself to take the right dosage is a good approach, but you may want to look into some local NA groups that talk about the compulsion that you're dealing with.

@raspberrytorte you are not alone. I used to abuse my seroquel too. From what I understand it's not all that uncommon.

Two things helped me. One I got my dose raised significantly. I talked to my psychiatrist about it, and he concluded that maybe I simply needed the higher dose. So I'm now on a higher dose daily and feel it's working for me and have no need to take more than prescribed. The second thing that helped me is I only get prescribed 2 weeks at a time. this helps me because just visually the amount I have on hand is a lot smaller, so I don't think I have a big supply to take, plus it makes me a lot more conscious of how many pills I have left so that if I do get an urge to take more, it seems like a much bigger deal. Not sure how your insurance works, but if that's an option for you, you might want to consider getting fewer pills at once.

Hi again. I looked up Seroquel & read that it balances dopamine & serotonin. So that would be very easy to abuse for me. I loved how alcohol gave me a jolt of dopamine & I was almost euphoric.
