I notice here that food is not listed as an addiction. Can a person be addicted to food as opposed to an eating disorder. Eating disorders seem to be linked with a focus on weight and caloric intake and punishment by starving. I dont care about my weight, though I suppose I should be. I cringe at my BMI but am mostly thinking about me next snack or meal.

Yes food can definitely be an addiction, although I see people more commonly talking about sugar addiction specifically. You might want to look into Overeaters Annonymous if you're interested in getting some support. |

There's been renewed effort to get the overeating section of the eating disorders threads going again if you have interest. As a recovering alcoholic, I see a definite relationship between my relationship with food (especially sweets) & my relationship with alcohol. In fact, alcohol is metabolized as a sugar. In my case, I have to be very cautious about what & how much I eat.
