Anyone try this one? My pdoc said it's good for opioid use, alcohol use, eating disorders, and self harm. I've struggled with all of those at some point or another (right now it's just alcohol and disordered eating).

I took it for alcohol cravings and honestly it did nothing for me. That being said, one of my friends took it for alcohol cravings and it worked great for her - totally took away the cravings.
I now take gabapentin for cravings and it works great for me. |

I'm on day 2 and I feel like I'm cheating by taking this. I'm on enough meds as it is. I can stop on my own without putting another pill in my body every day.

I don't think it's cheating to take a medication that helps you stay sober. In my opinion anything that can help you stay sober should be considered. Different med but I took Antabuse for 4 years, to help stop me from just saying F-it and drinking. Antabuse makes you very ill if you drink on it. I'm off it now, but keep a bottle on hand for if I'm going into high risk situations.

I feel personally that harm reduction is important. If it helps you take it

I wasn't ready to quit drinking so I quit taking it, but I'm giving it another go. It makes me really tired.

I hope you give it another try and realize that your drinking is a brain problem and not a will power deficit, so using medication is appropriate and should not be considered cheating.
I took Naltrexone in an effort to reduce extreme hunger caused by Zyprexa. Naltrexone did nothing for me, possibly because I was not having cravings but instead painful physical feelings of hunger. __________________ Bipolar I w/psychotic features Last inpatient stay in 2018 Geodon 40 mg Seroquel 75 mg Gabapentin 1200 mg+Vitamin B-complex (against extrapyramidal side effects) Long term side effects from medications, some of them discontinued: - hypothyroidism - obesity BMI ~ 38 |
