You're the greatest, DocJohn. I wish this little forum had been here during my drinking days. It can't have come at a better time. I do know that many people "self-medicate" with alcohol to relieve the symptoms of their mental illness. And I know that there will be days when I will miss drinking, even though I don't do it any more.

Thank you for putting this forum up.

Former problem drinker.

I have, by nature, always been cheap. In as much, I was thinking to myself, that if I wanted to get the most out of injecting my cocaine, I might be able to put it where it goes anyway, into the brain, by mixing up a small amount and hitting the internal carotid and do away with diluting the mix with my whole system and put it where it does the most good, my brain! The first time I did this I over did it. I am told that I was seizing for anywhere between fifteen and twenty minutes. Since then, I have continued to practice the same method only pushing only the smallest amount and waiting 3 to 5 seconds to see if I could do more. Then I would. This would go on until I lost the artery. Then I keep trying to find it. I have many instances of doing too much.... with bruises from seizing. I was wondering, am I alone with this type of use? A can anyone tell me why my vision shifts vertically forcing me to close one eye so that I might see clearly to continue?

Thank you very much for setting up this site. This is a forum here that I am very familiar with and have been able to help others with as I am a recovering alcoholic/addict myself. Looking forward to seeing people here and helping each other out.

I am having a real hard time with my husband. He sneaks and does cocaine or something thinking I don't know. It is white powderery looking stuff in a little tie twisted bag. He does not snort it but takes it through his mouth. He has been doing this for years. At least one day a week, he is sick, talks out of his head, has even had a fever at times, and screams like he is in pain. Then, it will go away for a few days. He acts senile a lot. He can't stand without rocking back and forth. He drools sometimes and does not even know it. Does anyone know what this is? Is it drugs or mental?

I just joined and I am trying to stop taking pills for courage. my family is worried about me. I don't know if I am "addicted" but I know that it helps me to feel like I fit in.

Welcome, I believe having a place like this to go to and share is a big part of recovery. I also battle with a mean case of depression, enhanced with GAD, (just to keep me on my toes), and an addiction to alcohol, cocaine, and pills. But, I took a one year cake at the end of August, work the steps, have a great Sponsor, and reach my hand out to as many new comers, as possible. I'm also looking for a new job and taking classes for my Masters. Staying involved with things that inspire you, getting outside and taking a walk, and looking at the world with gratitude are good jumping off points.
I look forward to hearing more about your experience, strength, and hope.

Although we renamed the forum to "Addictions," this is still the place to come and discuss alcoholism, drinking problems, or a substance abuse issue.
