So Grolsch beer has launched this huge radio campaign in my area. and the radio station that I listen to is obviously part of their target demographic given the number of times I hear a commercial. I listen to at least two hours of radio a day while I'm driving to and from work and there's at least 2 adds an hour. Grolsch used to be my favourite, special occassion beer. And the darn commercials feature the very distinctive pop that the bottle makes when you open it. (For those of you who don't know the brand, the bottles don't have normal caps, they have ceramic rimmed with rubber stoppers held on by wires, kind of like a champagne bottle cork.) All I have to hear is that pop, and I can immediately picture the little bit of vapour coming out of the bottle as you open it, smell it, see it pouring into a glass and taste it.
I'm coming up on a year sober, and want to stay that way, but these darn commercials have me literally salivating. I feel like one of Pavlov's dogs. I really hate these stupid cravings. --splitimage |

Can you listen to CDs instead?
No need to be triggered unneccesarily. There is a man in my home group who has been sober for over FORTY YEARS and he is triggered by alcohol ads. So you are not alone. ((((((((((((((((((((splitimage)))))))))))))))))) |
