There is 1 particular horrible trauma that happened to me that haunts me, every single day. And my Dad was passed out drunk in his recliner & never helped me. There is no excuse for this crap! Then don't have kids! He is passed away & still the memories haunt me. I never once received any apologies for anything. My childhood was a horror show & I left his house at 17 years old & never went back there. He was also so horrible he wouldn't even let me take a clothing dresser when I got my own apartment at 18 years old. He was so nasty screaming at me, I called him on phone, asking if I could take my dresser & a bookshelf I used. He said nope. What a total jerk, not even helping your kid. He had plenty of money in the bank. He would turn into a snarling animal when drunk. Like I said, a horror show. Also I am glad I'm not a horrible alcoholic anymore! 2021 begins Year 4 of my sobriety 🙏🙏

Four years of sobriety is good, congratulations!

I'm sorry you experienced this trauma It's great that you are not ''repeating the cycle of abuse''..

Angry drunks are the hardest. The alcohol damages and retards the frontal area of the brain and can let the anger come out of a person that’s just horrible. When I see that I stay away from the person

Hi! Yes I was reading about how alcohol affects the frontal lobe areas of brain. I wanted to know how alcohol affected my brain. Why oh why did I even get hooked on the trash. I also believe I have brain damage from years of abusing it. I wouldn't eat much, so damage was also caused by no vitamins/minerals, STILL SOBER tho!

THANKS to every member for your kind words of encouragement on my sobriety. I appreciate your comments because Christmas & new years are a time when u can start craving alcohol again. Force of habit to drink heavily during entire holidays. Alcohol is merely a habit to break. A worthless, destructive habit. ADIOS ALCOHOL 👋👋
