I definitely suggest you see a therapist to see what's happening. Even if your periods haven't stopped, you might be damaging your body.

I too have been of petite stature my entire life. I am now almost 32 and was just diagnosed last year as anorexic and I have not lost my period. In the new DSM, I believe, they have taken out the loss of period part for diagnosis. It is very hard to keep the weight on, especially if you over exercise. Who diagnosed you and did/are they send/ing you to a dietician? Since we can't mention numbers, it is hard to know what exactly you are doing to your body. Coming from someone who used to eat only a child's portion of dinner, I have found out that is not enough calories to keep me going throughout the day. I get to the point where I literally sleep all day because I have no energy to get out of bed. The damage I have done is: I am frequently constipated, My liver doesn't metabolize things correctly, my heart always seems to be racing, I am dehydrated a lot. I am sure there are other things that I cannot remember. Being anorexic sucks the life out of you literally. Don't be afraid to get help while you can. I knew that I had disordered eating when I was a freshman in high school, but was afraid to talk to anybody. I was the "Perfect" daughter and nothing could be wrong with me. I struggled for 16 yrs before I got help. I'm not saying that getting help is going to make the struggle go away, but it makes it a tad bit easier to deal with when you have a treatment team on your side. Feel free to pm me anytime you want to talk.

I first got diagnosed at the age of 13 but doctor found out I have kidney cysts and didn't do anything bout weight after so a doctor I have now took over from old doctor and wear I was under mental health they set me up with the nurses there I have put a tiny bit of weight on but keep losing it and I still eat a child amount as I struggle to eat more where my stomach has shrunk so much I'm also on the contraceptive pill and I haven't put a thing on I am still struggling to get the help wear I'm 18 now the mental health has to refer me to adult services but nothing has still been done so I have been doing it alone with the support of my friends and boyfriend and thank you for letting me message you if I need to and thanks for the advice

About the DSM, that's what I heard too. And is it really hard to keep the weight on? I keep thinking the weight will come on and stay on like a stubborn wart!

Shanzy131211, I am petite sized too. I've been slender and on the thin side for most of my life. I became a few kilos thinner after the eating disorder started. I've always been on the borderline underweight spectrum, so I don't put much stock into weight guidelines.

It only matters whether you accept that you have a problem and you are willing to take action on the advice given to you. However, that's easier said than done I know. I hope you find the support that you are looking for here.
Thanks for this!

Lately, I find that eating 3 almost-normal portions of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner helps. I used to split lunch into 2 servings. Now I try to eat a whole sandwich instead of half. I have a cookie, small chocolate bar or fruit as a snack before dinner if I'm hungry.

I also seem to have some of my bingeing under control by eating my treats through the day instead of at night only. For example, I just had some oatmeal with fruit for breakfast then had a chocolate cookie. That satisfied me. At night, I might have some ice cream and another cookie, instead of the 5 cookies I might have had in the past.

You see where I'm going with this? Anyway, different approaches work for different people so you will find what works for you. I still feel guilty over eating cookies or chocolate after breakfast and think "Who the hell eats this stuff in the morning?!" but I guess it's bteer than bingeing on it.
Thanks for this!

See a therapist if you can. Also enjoy "being too skinny" because it doesn't last. I know, I too was labeled too skinny at one point in time, but now I am fat. I mean as in my husband told me, "You eat too much". I weigh in the 190's somewhere.

hugs Shanzy. I just started seeing a therapist and was just diagnosed with anorexia even though I am still in the denial stage. I have not lost my period. I also hate when people comment on my size.

My therapist recommended the book Life Without ED by Jenni Schaefer. You might find it helpful. Hugs.

Birth Control Pills and Weight Gain - they say that although weight gain on the pill is largely a myth (on a large scale), there are different types of pills that affect you differently, so if you tell the prescriber of the Pill that you are underweight, maybe you can try a different type of Pill in the hopes of gaining a little bit, WHILE you are waiting for therapy to begin and take effect?

Just a thought.
